Hand-Sewn “Tooth Pillows” and Hand-Painted Ornaments

I grew up in the Spruce Pine area and have been sewing and making crafts for over 44 years.  I am self-taught and enjoy making clothing, home décor, stuffed toys, one-of-a-kind handbags and many other handcrafted items.  I have tried my hand at just about every type of craft.  I remember my mother crafting and quilting when I was a small child.  She taught me to be patient and to complete my project; often when I am crafting, I think of my mother giving me advice and suggestions on things that I made and would ask her about.

This project is a great opportunity for crafters in this area and a chance for us to showcase the talents and capabilities of the people of this region.

Judy Cooke grew up in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, and she cites her home in the Blue Ridge Mountains as the inspiration for much of her work.

Judy and her husband Jimmy have three daughters, Jeannie, Joanna and Joyce and two granddaughters.
